Five entirely different marketing campaigns to promote the student surveys

Each year the student surveys have undergone a design refresh to grab the attention of students.

Client: University Campus Suffolk (now University of Suffolk)
Location: Ipswich, Suffolk
Sector: Education
Deliverables: Logo Design, Illustration, Campaign, Print Marketing, Digital Marketing

Everybody loves a Post-it!

Between 2012-2016 I helped the University Campus Suffolk (now  University of Suffolk) with the marketing of their yearly student surveys campaigns. This included coming up with a brand identity for ‘Help Us Help You’ (the survey name) and being involved with the design and print of every marketing item imaginable!

The surveys are considered a hindrance by students, I mean who enjoys filling in surveys? So this was a tough challenge to crack. The first campaign created saw an uptake in responses from the previous year, and then did the second, and so on.

The fifth campaign was just impossible for students to get away from. UCS were stuck for ideas (excuse the pun) and I encouraged this Post-it themed idea.

Simple in execution, a series of hand crafted typographic messages (key to the campaign) were implemented onto 100s of neon Post-its (printed in our studio at the time), that were strategically placed all over the university, ensuring the surveys couldn’t be missed.

2016

Bright Marketing Campaign

This campaign hit every corner of the University campus. Lift vinyl graphics, leaflets, posters, e-banners, html emails and so much more were part of the deliverables. The poster messaging was all drawn by hand and applied across the print and digital materials.

2015

Conceptual Marketing Campaign

This year the focus was around hands coming together to take part in the surveys. Through a refined colour palette, simple illustrations, bold messages and clear information the campaign worked wonders yet again. The giveaway this year was a bespoke mini campaign branded notebook.

2014

Bold Marketing Campaign

2014 was the year for a bold and simplistic campaign to promote the student surveys. The hand drawn style was removed and everything was kept colourful and crisp. Leaflets, posters, t-shirts, html emails and so much more was designed and implemented.

2013

Illustrative Marketing Campaign

Taking the logo from 2012, I helped to develop a completely new look for the 2013 campaign. Creating brand new illustrations and using a harsh black/red combo, the surveys were striking yet again and saw an increase of uptake from the previous year.

2012

Hand Drawn Marketing Campaign

Where it all started! To get the student survey numbers up, I firstly helped to design a logo for the new campaign titled ‘Help Us Help You’. The campaign encompassed a hand drawn approach and bold colours to grab attention of the students. You name it… leaflets, posters, giveaways, digital banners/wallpapers were all designed for the campaign.
